Marvel Latest Phase 5 movies and series | MCU Phase 5 movies

Marvel fans have complained that Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe felt aimless in terms of larger franchise storytelling, but Marvel Studios certainly righted the ship at Comic-Con 2022. Kevin from Marvel framed the next big story arc that’s unfolding (The Multiverse Saga) and gave us a pretty full-fledged look at the next chapter of that story in Phase 5 – but some more casual MCU fans may be looking at Marvel’s Phase 5 slate and have some questions that need to be answered.

Below is a complete list of the projects Marvel has announced for Phase 5 of the MCU, as well as an explanation of what they are and why they are coming when they are!

Marvel Latest Phase 5 movies List

1. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania — February 17, 2023 (Cinemas)

Phase 5 will begin with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. That film is expected to reveal more mysteries about the pivotal Quantum Realm universe; it will be the first official appearance of Jonathan Majors as Kang (the main antagonist of this Multiverse Saga) and will introduce a new young hero in the form of Scott Lang’s daughter Cassie (Kathryn Newton).

While we know a lot, there’s still a lot we don’t know about the new lore Ant-Man 3 will introduce. Kang’s arrival alone brings with it an entire potential line of the villain’s alternate selves, who could end up anywhere in the MCU (if not already embedded there).

The Movie Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)

Following the events of Ant-Man and the Wasp and Avengers: Endgame, Scott Lang/Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Hope van Dyne/Wasp (Evangeline Lilly), and her parents Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) continue their investigation of the Quantum Realm, which leads them to a confrontation with Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors), a

2. Secret Invasion — Spring 2023 (Disney+ Hotstar)

This Disney+ series will centre on Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) uncovering a plot by factions of the shape-shifting alien race, The Skrulls. The show’s title is a hotly debated reference to a pivotal Marvel Comics storyline in which key heroes and work figures were revealed to be deep-cover Skrull agents for years, in a plot to stage a planet-sized coup against Earth.

Obviously, the MCU adaptation of Secret Invasion has the potential to similarly shake things up – from the situation on Earth to what is going on in the cosmos. With The Marvels set to arrive later next year, Secret Invasion could be a watershed moment for the franchise. It will also be the first appearance of Don Cheadle’s War Machine since Endgame.

About the Web Series Secret Invasion

The crossover comic event series Secret Invasion features a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls, led by Kingsley Ben-villain, Adir’s who have been infiltrating Earth for years, and stars Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as the Skrull Talos, characters who first met in Captain Marvel.

Much smaller in scope than the same-named comic book storyline from 2008-09, which featured more characters than Avengers: Endgame. Secret Invasion is more concerned with Jackson and Mendelsohn’s relationship, as well as the political paranoia embedded in the comic book pages.

Secret Invasion will be available on Disney+ and Disney+ Hotstar in 2022.

3. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 — May 5, 2023

James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy will conclude with this film, and he and the cast and crew have made it clear that it will be the final instalment. Guardians 3 will introduce some key cosmic figures, including Adam Warlock (Will Poulter) and the High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji), and it’s here that we start to see a possible pattern forming in Phase 5: powerful villains rising in ways our heroes may not be prepared for.

Regardless of who lives or dies, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will leave a void in the universe – as well as in our hearts.

The Movie Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023)

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame and Thor: Love and Thunder, the third instalment in Marvel and James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy film series takes place. Delayed because Gunn was fired for controversial tweets before being rehired months later. Production will begin in November 2021 and will last until April 2022.

4. Echo — Summer 2023 (Disney+ Hotstar)

When it was revealed that both Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) would be major players in it, Echo quickly went from a Hawkeye spinoff to something much more pivotal. Now, Echo appears to be setting in motion a chain of events that could result in the return of Marvel’s Defenders and/or Kingpin’s ascension to new levels of power in the MCU…

5. Loki Season 2 — Summer 2023 (Disney+ Hotstar)

In terms of scope and stakes, Loki was our first real glimpse into what this Multiverse Saga is all about. Loki will now be the first MCU (anti-)hero to discover Kang and his reality – and have to flee it – in season 2 of the series. Fans are already speculating that Loki will be one of the more pivotal characters in the Phase 6 Avengers films, The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars.

6. The Marvels — July 28, 2023 (Cinemas)

The Captain Marvel film franchise will join forces with the Ms. Marvel TV series (with assistance from WandaVision’s Monica Rambeau) to form a new trifecta of cosmic-powered superheroines in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Plot details are unknown, but Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) and Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) have a place-switching connection, so that’s something. Based on previous projects like Secret Invasion, The Marvels may have some serious Kree/Skrull drama to resolve, which could result in a major shift in the cosmic order.

7. Blade — November 3, 2023 (Cinemas)

The Marvel Knights supernatural side has been teased in the post-credits scenes of Moon Knight and Eternals, but Blade is the film that will really open the door to it all. Depending on when and if Marvel releases Moon Knight Season 2, Blade could be a pivotal dark horse story with implications we don’t fully comprehend.

MCU Phase 7 movies?

Marvel Studios has not revealed any titles beyond Phase 6, which is expected to conclude The Multiverse Saga. But Disney has slotted four MCU movies for 2026, which we imagine might be part of Phase 7. Officially, “Phase 7” doesn’t exist as of now.
