BLACKPINK, Today is the 7th anniversary of their debut

To celebrate their 7th debut anniversary, BLACKPINK will be hosting a special event both online and offline. YG Entertainment has announced that 76 screens at Sicacus Junction Station in New Jersey, USA will be adorned with black and pink decorations, representing the group’s official colors. Additionally, major cities like New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco will have video screenings that reflect on BLACKPINK’s journey throughout the past seven years.

Furthermore, from the 9th to the 11th, a photo booth will be available at the Verdy pop-up in New York to celebrate BLACKPINK’s 7th anniversary. In addition, Starbucks in nine Asian countries, including Korea, will offer exclusive 7th anniversary stickers to customers who purchase BLACKPINK-themed drinks and food on this special day.

Moreover, on the global fan platform Weverse, a ‘Blackpink Gosa’ issue paper containing questions related to BLACKPINK has been distributed and is receiving positive feedback. More content will be added to the platform later.

BLACKPINK expressed their gratitude towards their fans who have consistently supported them. They eagerly anticipate the future with their fandom, Blink, and have prepared exciting content for them to enjoy.

Since their debut on August 8, 2016, BLACKPINK has emerged as a leading girl group not only in K-pop but also globally. They have achieved remarkable milestones, including being the first K-pop girl group to achieve double million-seller status, topping the prestigious US Billboard 200 chart, and UK Official Album Chart Top 100 simultaneously. They also made history as the first Asian artist to headline at Coachella and Hyde Park. Additionally, their world tour, ‘BORN PINK’, which has attracted approximately 1.5 million attendees, is currently ongoing.

Currently, YG Entertainment and BLACKPINK are in discussions regarding the renewal of their contract. Originally, these matters were expected to be finalized before the group’s 7th anniversary on the 8th, but there has been a delay. It is anticipated that the contract renewal between BLACKPINK and YG will be officially settled by the end of this month. In some cases, negotiations may continue even after the contract expires if both the artist and the agency are willing to continue discussions while maintaining the existing contract conditions.

Regardless of the contract renewal situation, the industry believes that both the members of BLACKPINK and YG will continue to prioritize the protection and promotion of the BLACKPINK brand. The group’s tour, which began in New Jersey on the 11th (local time), will proceed to other cities such as Las Vegas, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.
